the strokes and the Ramones prove how effective the down stroke on guitar is, both bands from New York, hence New York is the birthplace of the down stroke, just realized a great band name, the down strokes, i call dibs lol, if you wanna hear a good band i've heard recently that remind me of the strokes, try searching Lonely Gimmick -Beaches ,you may be in for a surprise
